Andy and Jessica Fell Head Over Heels in College
To truly understand the seriousness of the DNA results, we need to learn a little more about the bride and groom. And we bet neither Andy or Jessica ever expected their wedding to be canceled on the very day they were due to be exchanging their vows. After all, they had fallen head over heels in love with each other as soon as they set eyes on each other - and that just so happened to be at college.
Although both were surrounded by singletons, they only had eyes for each other and had a connection neither of them could explain. At the time, they had no idea that there was a reason behind this connection.
They Were From the Same Town, but Had Never Met Previously
As well as being connected on an emotional level, Andy and Jessica were also connected in terms of their history. As they got to know each other, they realized that they had both grown up in the exact same town and knew many of the same people. But while they had spent their younger years in a very small town just a few miles away from each other, their paths had never crossed before.

In the end, that's exactly what he did, and he even enlisted the help of his father to help plan the BBQ and make sure everyone could attend during their college break.
Andy's father was more than happy to help out, and he was excited to meet the woman his son had fallen madly in love with. However, that excitement waned when he saw her for the first time.
Andy's Mom and Dad Were Shocked When They Saw Jessica
Andy had expected the family BBQ to be a little awkward and nerve-wracking, but he had always thought that his parents would be the most warm and welcoming. To his surprise, that's not what he experienced when he turned up to his parents' house with Jessica on his arm. As soon as his mom and dad opened the door and set their eyes on Jessica, they just stared at her, completely stunned.
His mom and dad looked as though they had seen a ghost, and he didn't know what to do. He didn't want Jessica to feel embarrassed, but he didn't understand why his parents were acting that way.

His mom and dad were eventually able to shake themselves out of the shock and took a moment to introduce themselves to Jessica, but it was clear to see that they were still very taken aback. They tried to warmly welcome her into their home, but it seemed as though they had many thoughts running through their minds. Andy didn't quite know what those thoughts were until his dad started probing her abut her family.
More than anything, Andy's dad was interested in her mom - and he even asked her if her name was Rose. But even when Jessica stated that her mom was called Ashley, he didn't let up.
He Thought Andy's Fiance Looked Like One of His Ex-Girlfriends
Although Andy could see that his dad wasn't happy with the answers that Jessica gave him, he decided to let his troubles go - at least for the day. He allowed Andy the time to introduce his other half to every other member of the family, and eat some delicious food in the process. However, his mom knew that she had to speak to her son, so she decided to do that the very next day.
When Andy was alone, she pulled him to one side and explained that his dad was acting so strangely because Jessica bore a strikingly similar resemblance to one of his ex-girlfriends. And they were convinced that she was her daughter.
His Parents Tried to Convince Andy to Get Jessica's DNA
In their eyes, Jessica was the double of Rose, Andy's dad's ex-girlfriend - and they began to question whether there was a connection there. But more than that, they began to question whether there was a connection between Andy's dad and Jessica. And with the wedding just weeks away, they wanted to make sure that Andy wasn't going to marry someone he shouldn't be marrying. So, they asked Andy to get some of Jessica's DNA.

In Andy's eyes, the fact that his fiance looked like one of his dad's ex-girlfriends was just a funny coincidence. And he thought his parents' theory was utterly unfounded and ridiculous. All he had wanted was to introduce the love of his life to the people who meant the most to him, but they had decided to turn it around and make the whole thing about themselves and their own history.
The whole thing felt wrong to Andy, and the last thing he wanted to do was test his fiance's DNA over a silly theory. So, he told his mom to drop the idea.

Although Andy knew that he didn't want to put Jessica through a DNA test, he was also stuck between a rock and a hard place. After meeting all of Andy's friends and family, she was able to put faces to names that would help her decide who would sit where. So, she stepped out of the BBQ for a little while to tick a task off her wedding to-do list.
Andy Suggested Leaving the BBQ to Go for a Walk to De-Stress
Although Andy wanted to help Jessica plan the wedding, she knew exactly what she wanted from their big day. Because of this, he left the big decisions to her and let her coordinate everything she needed to coordinate. However, he was concerned during the BBQ when he looked over and saw Jessica huddled over a seating chart. He could see that she was stressed, so he wanted to help her.
As they loved going for walks, he suggested that they go for a walk to clear their heads and take a break from the stressful wedding planning. Little did he know that this was the worst thing he could have done.
Andy's Mom Took The Opportunity to Grab Some of Jessica's Hair
Although Andy was trying to do something nice for his fiance, what he didn't realize was that his mom was still convinced that a DNA test was the way to go. So, when the couple left the BBQ to go for a walk, she took the opportunity to inspect the table that Jessica was working at. She looked for any kind of DNA that would help in their test - and that's when she spotted some strands of hair.
She knew that she was being disloyal to her son by picking them up and putting them in a bag, but in her heart of hearts, she knew that what she was doing was for the greater good.
For the Next Few Weeks, Life Went on as Normal
With Jessica's hair in hand, Andy's mom was able to send off Jessica and her husband's DNA to be tested. But the results wouldn't be instant, so for the next few weeks, life went on as normal. Andy and Jessica continued to plan their wedding, getting more and more excited about the fact that they would become husband and wife in just a few short weeks. Although it was hectic, it was worth it.
And while Andy's mom and dad tried to share in their son's excitement, in their minds, they wouldn't be fully onboard with the wedding until they received the DNA test results. Then, finally, they arrived.
The Result Arrived on the Big Day
Of course, Andy had no idea that his mother had taken some of Jessica's hair and sent it off for testing. And while he was thankful that she hadn't spoken any more about the questions surrounding his fiance's paternity, he was also upset because he could see that his parents were not fully onboard with their engagement and their upcoming nuptials. All he wanted was for his parents to love Jessica.
But it soon became clear that Andy's parents had a right to question her paternity, as the results of her DNA test finally arrived on the day of the wedding - just hours before Andy and Jessica were set to become bride and groom.
The Results Confirmed Andy and Jessica Had the Same Father
With the results in their hands, Andy's parents prepared themselves for the results. Either Jessica's resemblance to Rose was pure coincidence, or Jessica really was Rose's daughter and Andy's dad was really Jessica's father. While this news helped Jessica understand why Andy's dad seemed so shocked when she turned up at their door, why was his mom so shocked? Well, she had known Rose, too. The two women had been best friends and had done everything together - so she was equally as devastated when she disappeared out of the blue. However, her disappearance did have a silver lining for both Andy's mom and dad.
As they dealt with the loss of Rose, Andy's mom and dad found themselves growing closer and closer, and they eventually decided to start dating themselves. And after a few years, Rose was just someone from their past.
Although Andy's Parents Apologized, They Had No Regrets
It wasn't until Jessica turned up on their doorstep that memories of Rose flooded back into Andy's mom and dad's memories. And while they apologized to Jessica for turning her world upside down and presenting her with such life-changing information, they also stated that they had no regrets about what they did and how they went about it. They knew a DNA test was the only way to prevent a disaster.
Although Jessica wanted to be angry with them, she knew she couldn't be. Her whole life had been a lie, and they had been the ones to uncover the truth.
